Arguably one of the most competitive markets in the service industry, the fitness business is not for the faint of heart. Those who make it share an unprecedented level of determination, an innovative spirit and high tolerance for risk.

Born with the mission to become a globally recognized leader in the fitness industry, our role in the Vigor Ground success narrative started back in 2016 when the founder enlisted our help to design a digital marketing strategy to capture leads and drive sales. That one-off project quickly evolved into an on-going relationship – which ultimately led to the design and development of digital infrastructures that continues to drive leads into the gym’s pipeline from multiple angles.

Designing a digital solution for an industry as crowded and turbulent as the fitness industry requires a creative strategy.

For a plan to work it must take into account important variables like the local landscape, societal climate, industry trends and user/client behaviour.

While being innovative. It’s also important to pad in moldability so you can pivot without disruption if something changes – which it so often does in an industry as fierce as fitness.

With Vigor we focused on developing a strategy that would take care of their most important need: more clients, and a steady stream of them.

On the business automation side we designed and implemented an automated conversion optimization architecture that captured leads 24/7 and filtered them through the appropriate sales funnel.

This ultimately led to an in-house sales representative who completed the sale and added a human touch. We chose a CRM software that would be easy for the in-house team to use, could be synced with the other apps in our framework (including booking and payment software) and was also scalable to future proof.

On the digital marketing side we built a web of targeted conversion funnels. Each was supported by a social advertising campaign to drive leads to targeted landing pages that converted users through custom leads forms.

Ad messaging was segmented and written for targeted audience groups – based on data acquired through extensive market research and insights from the Vigor team. Campaigns were then A/B split-tested to ensure a high return on investment, and re-marketed based on page traffic and ad results.

On the design side we laid the UX framework and built custom landing pages with an aesthetic that matched Vigor’s brand guidelines while speaking to the emotional intent of the users who arrived on each targeted page. To round everything out we designed custom ad creative to ensure congruence to mitigate ad drop-off rates.

The result: a shark-like network that converted leads with accuracy and helped Vigor Ground fill the new 10,000 sq. ft. gym they moved into midway through the campaign after client-demand swelled beyond the capacity of their former space.
