The rise of Savoury Chef is a success story we’re proud to have helped write from the beginning.

What started as a small personal cheffing business of two, has grown into Vancouver’s number one catering company – with a full-time staff of nearly 40, thousands of repeat clients and a steady pipeline of new leads.

While much has changed since the company’s inception, what remains the same is their commitment to dazzling clients with their exceptional food and service. 

Our role in Savoury Chef’s rise began when the company’s president came to us with a dream: to take his then humble business of two and grow it into the top catering company in the city. It was a lofty vision—given the competition in the catering arena—but a challenge we were confident we could help him realize.

Designing a digital solution for an ambitious business goal can be a bit of a Pandora’s box.

Though the prospect of reward is high, the path to get there has the potential to be lined with unexpected troubles. 

 To mitigate, the course you chart must be strategic and phased – with each step laying the foundation for the next to give you an upward driving staircase to rise up. 

Our approach with Savoury Chef matched this philosophy and began with the architecture of a multi-phased growth strategy. A plan that was then executed over the course of 12+ months, and ultimately led to the nirvana that inspired it.

On the business automation side we built an extensive digital infrastructure to support and drive all internal operations virtually and automatically.

This included the setup of a robust CRM system, a real-time delivery tracking app, event management software, and cloud-based accounting and financial reporting – along with other apps and systems management software. We strategically webbed everything together to give Savoury Chef a hands-off solution that allowed them to scale-up business fast while keeping staffing needs low to maximize profit margins. 

On the digital marketing side we strategized then designed an aggressive large-scale search marketing initiative to drive traffic to their website and leads into their pipeline.

This included the design and development of specialized landing pages and additional micro sites to siphon high quality leads into the Savoury Chef ecosystem. 

We then executed that plan systematically – measuring success and trimming the fat to maximize return. 

To pour gas on the fire, we ran targeted PPC campaigns on both Google and Bing to drive an average 400%+ ROI on dollars invested to direct sales value. Coupled with reputation management, lead tracking and an on-page conversion strategy to turn the Savoury Chef website into a machine that converted leads almost as fast as they came in.

On the design side we spear-headed multiple web design refreshes over the years to keep Savoury Chef’s digital presence fresh, modern and aligned with the brand to ensure touchpoint congruence. 

As a premium events and catering company, it was imperative to our strategy’s success that their digital experience effectively communicated their value and stood out from the competition.

The result: Savoury Chef was named Best Caterer in Vancouver by the public they’re proud to serve in 2020, and is now the second largest caterer in the city – with an intelligent digital infrastructure in place to support their growth well into the future, and a finely-tuned online marketing engine serving as the backbone for new customer acquisition.
